The Masque of The Cross Kirk - Dance of Death at the Cross Kirk Peebles

8th & 9th September 8.00pm

£6 (£4) book at Eastgate Theatre

Humans are the problem- trying to create immortality. Death is miffed cos he'll be out of a job and he rallies the creatures of literature to stop Dr. Frankenburger: "Who are you gonna call-ghost busters!"

Once again, Tweed Theatre's pantomime has been a great success with Peebles audiences. Out of 6 performances, 5 were fully booked and even the first performance only had about 50 seats available.

Sue Tickner and the cast can take great pride in yet another amazing production making the many weeks of work all worth while.

2008 CHRISTMAS is only a few months away- This year the Pantomime will be Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. If you run a group and would like preferential tickets send us an e-mail with your contact details to: enquiries@tweedtheatre.org.uk

Preparing for a mystery trip to Scarborough, three Northern coach drivers pass the time remembering more exciting trips from the past, such as their last one down the Rhine Valley to Heidleberg. Stick hates his doddery, old passengers and would rather be doing the Spanish run where younger talent is available, Larry is a Mario Lanza fanatic who has been escorting coach trips for longer than anyone cares to remember and Frank is their female counterpart. These three characters in turn play an assortment of passengers from retired miners seeking a bit of excitement too late and on too tight a budget to elderly spinsters who clearly feel they are plumbing societal depths, forced by impecunity to holiday on a coach tour. There are many others, so don’t be surprised if you see someone you think you recognise!

MEMBERS NOTE

2008 pantomime- Sue Tickner will hold a combined parental information evening and readings on Sunday 14th September at 7pm at St. Joseph's Neighbourhood Centre. Sue requests that parents stay for about half and hour, after which children can be left for a reading of the script. Note: only children aged 9 and over.

Jean Westwater’s pursuit of this crazy activity took a long break between leaving school and realising that she was born to play this part. She specialisies in telling out of date jokes and is now thinking of learning to drive a bus.
Tim Wilcock is familiar to followers of Tweed Theatre having appeared over the last 5 years in Neville’s Island, various pantomines and more recently at the Fringe this year in Hostage. A regular as well with Shakespeare at Traquair, he has also directed and appeared in a number of touring theatre productions. He’s a natural at playing the part of a grumpy old sod.
Graham McIntosh works with Tweed Theatre and other groups. Recent roles include a straightlaced vicar in The Herbal Bed and an out of condition telephone engineer in Barefoot in the Park. So he’s well suited to play Larry, a bus driver with a proclivity for big breakfasts and unfiltered fags. But I bet you didn’t know Graham really does have an unbridled affection for Mario Lanza.
